A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber blew himself up at a crowded mosque in Maiduguri, killing scores of people on Wednesday morning, various reports indicated.
Online newspaper, Sahararrporters.com, said the terror attack occured at a prayer ground in Umurari area of Maiduguri and 25 people were dead while at least 17 were injured.
The newspaper said the mosque was hit shortly after early morning prayers began.
Boko Haram terrorists pledged allegiance to the Islamic State in March last year and have since modelled their barbarism after the Middle East killers, bombing mosques, beheading men and kidnapping and enslaving women.
More than 25,000 people have been killed in Nigeria within seven years, and at least 1300 have been murdered in neighbouring Cameroon since 2013, including more than 70 soldiers there.
President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed many times that the “godless, mindless” militants have been “technically defeated” since December, but with the killings and bombings continuing in deadly scales, many are struggling with their dictionaries to understand the true meaning of “technically defeated”.
