A Boko Haram attack near Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in the northeast, killed scores of people on Saturday night, various reports said on Sunday, as Nigeria based terrorists step up attacks in Nigeria and Cameroon.
Reports said the attack on Dalori village just 5 kilometers from Maiduguri, the biggest city in the northeast, left almost 70 people dead.
The Associated Press quoted a survivor who hid in a tree as saying that he watched “Boko Haram extremists firebomb huts and listened to the screams of children burning to death in the latest attack by Nigeria’ s homegrown Islamic extremists”.
Witnesses told AP the insurgents ravaged the settlement for four hours before “three female suicide bombers blew up among people who were fleeing”.
Boko Haram has killed more than 25,000 people in Nigeria since 2009 and thousands in Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
