Ashaka Cement has notified the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) of the resignation of Mr. Leonard Palka (Polish), as the Managing Director of the company with effect from 13th April, 2016. Mallam Rabiu Abdullahi Umar (Nigerian) has been appointed as his replacement taking effect from 13th, April 2016.
Rabiu Umar is a graduate of Accounting from Bayero University and an alumnus of Harvard Business School. Before his new appointment as the MD, Rabiu was the Energy and Strategy Director for Lafarge Plc, and was responsible for spearheading Energy and Power projects in Lafarge, including the development of a 300MW power initiative, most of which will be contributed into the National grid.
He also spent 14 years working with Oando in different departments including finance, sales, marketing, and operations, which led to his last role at the company as the chief operating officer of Oando Terminals and Logistics.
Ashaka Cement was trading at N24.00 as at press time.
