$321m Abacha Loot: Swiss Government Set To Hold Talks With FG Over Repartriation

A high powered delegation from the Swiss government is expected in Nigeria to hold talks with Nigerian government for the purpose of working out modalities to repatriate funds stolen by the Late Gen. Sani Abacha.(popularly known as the “Abacha Loot”)

The delegation will hold talks with the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

A Swiss official in Nigeria, Pascal Holliger confirmed the visit.

According to him, “Yes, our Foreign Minister is on his way to Nigeria on Tuesday, he is coming on a working visit to Nigeria.

During the visit, he would open the Consular General’s office in Lagos and meet with the Vice President of Nigeria and the Minister of Foreign Affairs to discuss the issue of the repatriation of the second tranche of the Abacha loot,” he said.

About $321 million is expected to be returned by the Swiss Government back to Nigeria.
