Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) an independent body of key players in the downstream sector have just elected Akin Akinfemiwa as chairman of the association.
Akinfemiwa is the Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Forte Oil Plc. He is to take over from Wale Tinubu whose tenure has expired.
A statement from MOMAN during the announcement, says that, the body pledges to cooperate fully with the federal government’s on its policies to better the downstream sector amid the current drop in oil prices.
“MOMAN under his leadership will wholly support the Federal Government’s policies by ensuring compliance in the effective distribution and marketing of petroleum products,” the group said.
“MOMAN will continue to foster partnerships with the Federal Government in exploiting the opportunities prevalent in the downstream petroleum sector.”
“In his post-election statement, Mr. Akinfemiwa said the main focus of MOMAN would remain to continue to work closely with all the regulatory bodies to finding lasting solutions to the problems facing the downstream sector of the petroleum industry and assisting the Federal Government in ensuring uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products to Nigerians.
“Our commitment is to continue to work towards reviving the Nigerian economy by championing polices that promote the development of our industry which is a driver of the Nigerian economy,” he said.
According to the statement Mr.Akinfemiwa is a luminary with vast experience that can help take the body to greater height as well as bring about better relationship with the Federal Government that will improve the downstream sector.
“Akin Akinfemiwa is an experienced and seasoned International oil trader with special focus on oil and petroleum products, futures, swaps and derivatives trading.
“He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Master of Business Administration, MBA, Degree in Information Technology.
“He was appointed the Group Chief Executive Officer of Forte Oil Plc in December 2011, having held several roles within the petroleum industry.
“MOMAN will be expecting Akinfemiwa to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his assignment, especially relating to the successful transformation of Forte Oil Plc for which he was a major driving force.
