NERC Reveals How Many Customers Lodged Complaints Against 11 Electricity Distribution Companies

The acting chief executive officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Anthony Akah, disclosed yesterday that a total number of 47,127 customers made complaints against 11 electricity distribution showing a high level of customer dissatisfaction in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

Speaking at a training session on customer complaints handling organized for staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) at Keffi, Nassarawa State, the boss of the commission said that the distribution companies will have to be on top of their game and make sure that the customers complains are strictly adhered to.

“It is critical that electricity distribution companies should be alive to their duties of prompt resolution of complaints to ensure improved customer service satisfaction.

He further hinted that NERC has put in place fundamental guidelines and tools to enable the service providers to provide better services to the customers and help minimize future complains.

“This will not only win the confidence of the customers for their service provider but also allow customers to benefit from gain of the privatisation of the power sector,” he said.
