Men and women killed by Boko Haram terrorists in Cameroon since 2013 have names and faces, and a non governmental organisation would be unveiling the names and faces of 1000 of them at an event this month ending.
It would be the first time that the names and faces of Boko Haram victims would be unveiled on that scale to the public since the insurgency began in Nigeria seven years ago and in Cameroon three years ago.
The names and faces of Boko Haram victims were compiled by an NGO in Cameroon known by its French name “Le Collectif Unis pour le Cameroun (U4C)” or “Cameroon’s United Collective” against Boko Haram and terrorism.
Local newspaper, L’Oeil du Sahel, said the two day event will take place on 31 March and 1 April at the “Foundation Fouda” in the Cameroonian capital of Yaoundé between 9 am and 5 pm each day.
The newspaper called on Cameroonians to come and pay their respects to compatriots killed by Boko Haram terrorists.
Boko Haram has killed more than 1300 Cameroonians since 2013, including at least 70 soldiers there. More than 25,000 people have been killed in Nigeria since 2009 but no single event has been organised to remember the dead. No such event has also taken place in Chad and Niger where hundreds have also been murdered.
