Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, on Monday, described as “a great loss,” the death of Dr. Tunji Braithwaite, foremost lawyer, Political activist and founder of the Nigerian Advance Party, who died in Lagos today aged 82.
Mr. Amosun said the foremost lawyer and former Presidential candidate will be remembered, not just for his contributions to the legal profession, but also to the development of democratic ethos in Nigeria.
The Ogun State Governor recalled how Dr. Braithwaite founded the Nigerian Advance Party, NAP in 1983 and has over the years remained faithful to the Nigerian cause through his words and deeds.
He said Dr. Braithwaite’s contribution to national discourse and political development will be greatly missed and commiserated with the Braithwaite family while praying that God grants them the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
“We can only take solace in the fact that Dr. Braithwaite lived a purposeful, impactful and successful life,” Governor Amosun said.

Senior Special Assistant on Media also congratulated former Governor of Lagos State and national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the occasion of his 64th birthday on Tuesday, March 29.
“On this occasion of your birthday, I join you and your immediate and political families in celebrating the abundant grace of God on your life,” Governor Amosun said.
He added: “Your life has been an eventful one dotted by numerous achievements and accomplishments.
“Nigeria has benefitted immensely from your fountain of knowledge, wealth of experience, political sagacity and leadership acumen. The remarkable impact you have made in all spheres of human endeavour remains a reference point.”
Governor Amosun also seized the occasion to pray that the Almighty Allah (SWT) will preserve Senator Tinubu for many more years, in good health.
“This is so that you can continue to make significant contributions to the overall development of our party, in particular and our nation, Nigeria in general,” Governor Amosun said.
