The University of Lagos has been shut following a students’ protest on Thursday over lack of water and electricity within the campus, especially in the hostels.
Electricity has collapsed in Nigeria and with a lingering fuel scarcity, many people find it hard to power generators and provide electricity.
The University management ordered students till 10am on Friday to vacate the campus, including resident students. The move is to protect lives and property, the university said.
It dismissed their agitation as beyond its control as the entire country grapples with a fuel scarcity and lack of electricity.
