KDSG, ACCA Train Civil Servants on Financial Management
Kaduna State Government has partnered with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to build the capacity of civil servants in finance for better service delivery.
Gov. Uba Sani made this known at a three-day workshop with the theme “Capacity Building for Public Financial Management and Sustainability”, on Monday in Kaduna.
According to him, the training was organised to build the capacity and empower the civil service workforce for improved governance.
Sani said, “Our aspiration is to ensure that every Naira is judiciously spent, every resource maximised, and every policy is implemented with the highest level of efficiency and transparency.”
Represented by Nasara Bada, Commissioner for Finance, he said efficient budgeting, transparent accounting and prudent financial oversight can guarantee delivery of essential public goods, services and implementation development projects.
Sani said, “As trainees, you would engage with experts, share experiences, and develop strategies that would strengthen our financial system.”
” You would delve into best practices, learn about techniques and gain insights into innovative approaches that will help us achieve our Sustainable goals.”
Sani said the workshop was to create a state where every citizen has access to quality services, adding, ” where our economy thrives and where resources are managed with integrity and accountability.”
He called on the participants to take advantage of the knowledge gained as it would be instrumental in driving the success of the state’s financial management reforms and ensuring the sustainability of its development.
Bashir Zuntu, Accountant General, Kaduna State, said the training was part of the state government’s investment in human capital in equipping the civil servants to implement best practices to global management.
He said, “This training would enhance knowledge on public financial management through allocation of scarce resources, transparent budget process and monitor our expenditure.” He commended ACCA for its dedication to fostering knowledge exchange and professional development.
On his part, ACCA’s Country Head, Mr Tom Isibor, said its purpose was to be a force for public good. Isibor said, “What that means is that we support governments, ministries, and agencies to be able to deliver various services to citizens.
” It is important that our civil servants know what the international global financial system is going to require of them to be efficient in managing resources, raising revenue and to be effective in managing governance.
“For them to be able to do that, civil servants must be properly equipped, and we just wanted to support the government of Kaduna State in its task of achieving its objectives.
