China Declares Readiness to Begin its 15th Five-Year Plan
Liu Jieyi, Deputy Secretary-General of China’s top political advisory body and spokesperson for the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), says the country is ready to begin its 15th Five-Year Plan.
Liu disclosed this during a global news conference organised by the CPPCC National Committee on Tuesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China.
The conference was held to brief Chinese and foreign journalists on China’s readiness to host its two major political events.
The events, namely the 4th Session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee and the 4th Session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), are scheduled to hold between March 3 and March 11. The meetings will focus on China’s five-year plan.
According to him, the plan will reflect national priorities and address the concerns of the Chinese people, with a focus on working closely with relevant institutions and actively implementing the decisions of the CPC Central Committee.
Liu said, “The five-year plan which seeks to implement special supervision is one of the important functions of the People’s Communist Party of China’s democratic supervision.
“In the past five years, ten special committees of the People’s Communist Party of China have selected important issues in the implementation of the 14th five-year plan.
“In the past five years, two consecutive special committees of the People’s Communist Party of China have participated in the implementation of the 14th five-year plan for 779 times, and submitted 323 suggestions.
“The 14th five-year plan is to focus on the key content and links, and promote the implementation of the People’s Communist Party of China, urban, rural, cultural, physical construction.
“To carry out in-depth construction, report, propose and collect information; respond to the relevant departments, and invite the relevant departments to participate in various meetings.”
According to him, this year’s session carries special significance, as it falls in the final year of the 14th five-year plan, which is also a critical year for deepening comprehensive reforms.
He affirmed that the CPPCC’s work would focus on providing key policy recommendations concerning the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan and promoting high-quality development.
“The convening of the two sessions this year coincides with the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the inaugural year for implementing the 15th Five-Year Plan, lending particular importance to the discussions,” he said
On the CPPCC’s move to increase income of those lifted from poverty, he disclosed the conference would rely on the CPC leadership, the self-reliance and hard work of Chinese people to achieve targets.
Others include reliance on the solid foundation laid by the reform and opening-up movement since the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
They also emphasise persistence, self-reliance, and the united efforts of all Chinese people in pursuing a Chinese-style path to poverty eradication. #China Declares Readiness to Begin its 15th Five-Year Plan#
