House, Kano. 6/3/2016Kano State Government has sponsored 5200 pupils for the 2016 National Common Entrance Examinations, spending N13 million for the registration of the candidates at the sum of N2500 per pupil.
The government also spent N22 million for all the 44 LGAs for the transportation and feeding of the candidates and other logistics.
Two hundred candidates were selected from each of the eight metropolitan local government areas while the remaining 36 LGAs selected 100 candidates each for the national examination which took place yesterday.
The State Government resolved to re-introduce the sponsorship of the examination for pupils from the public school in order to fill its quota at the Federal Government Colleges across the country which has previously been taken by other states due to non-participation of pupils from the state.
The decision was also informed by the need to enable successful candidates enjoy the opportunity of having national exposure through interaction with students from otherparts of the country thereby promoting national unity.
In addition, some of the successful candidates will also benefit from various education support programmes being provided by some giant corporate organizations in the country for students at the Federal Government Colleges.
Henceforth, all candidates for the National Common Entrance Examination from public schools in the state will be given special training by the government to boost their performance at the exams.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is currently performing the Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia, has prayed for the success of the candidates at the examinations and assured of his administration’s continued support to all those that may ultimately emerge successful.
