On 8th March 2016, a five-storey building in Lekki, Lagos collapsed, causing the deaths of about 30 people. Almost immediately, structural failure was blamed as the cause of the collapse. The building fell to the side and even some parts of it remained intact following the collapse.
However, when a building collapsed at The SCOAN in September 2014, if fell on its own footprint without tilting to the left or right and no single part of the structure remained intact.
The church had repeatedly argued that the collapse at the SCOAN was not caused by structural failure.
